Richard Winkler
Lighting Designer
Richard Winkler has designed for Broadway, off-Broadway, national and international tours and regional theatres, working on plays, musicals, opera, concerts, and dance. He has designed many productions of Evita, including that show’s 20th anniversary US national tour. His other work has been seen on tours and in theatres throughout the United States on such productions as Hairspray, Disney’s When You Wish, The Who’s Tommy, White Christmas, A Wonderful Life, Dreamgirls, Hello, Dolly!, Swing!, West Side Story, Cats, A Chorus Line, My Fair Lady, Kiss Me Kate, Anything Goes, Funny Girl, and Jekyll and Hyde. He also designed a number of Kennedy Center concerts, including Patti Lu Pone, Angela Lansbury, George Hearn, and Wynonna and Naomi Judd. He has also designed productions of The Little Prince, Be Aggressive, Woman In Black, Jerusalem, American Fiesta, Waverly Gallery, The Underpants, Dirty Blonde, Nickel and Dimed, and Wit. Richard is also a Broadway producer who has won four Tony Awards: The Norman Conquests, Memphis: The Musical, La Cage Aux Folles, and Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike. Currently on Broadway: the hit musical Come From Away and the play 1984. Currently in the West End: Dreamgirls.
